On October fourth I realized something about Jesus' Atonement. Satan tries to make us feel miserable and awful like him, but the Savior, to help us become like Him, came and felt like us.

Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.
2 Nephi 2:27

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1 Peter 2:21

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1 Peter 3:18

  1. In Mosiah 3:7 it says, "And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death;" I have thought about Christ suffering temptations and have come to realize that no matter how many or how difficult the temptations we face are, they can in no way compare with what Christ suffered. If Satan can lead us astray, that's just one person, but if he could have caused Jesus Christ to give in even just a little to temptation, he would have completely destroyed Heavenly Father's plan. Satan's attempts to get Christ to give in to temptation must have been relentless. Just as we cannot comprehend the physical pain and anguish Jesus suffered, neither can we even begin to comprehend the temptations He endured and conquered. And because He endured and overcame them, so, also, can we, if we look to Him, trust Him, and follow Him.
